Lead Generation Marketing: On Black Friday, Cyber Monday and other opportunities to spend like a wild hyena

So it’s “that” time of the year already.  And yes, of course, time’s gone by too quickly… everything feels overwhelming… and it’s hard to imagine things are starting all over again in less than 6 weeks.

But one thing you’ll find this time of the year, is that everyone seems to be having a sale (including me – and I’ll tell you about it in a minute).

It’s easy to run a sale this time of the year.  There are excuses all over the place about why you can put stuff on sale.

Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Years — basically, you can almost throw a dart at the calendar and find some kind of holiday-related reason to be running a sale right now.

But what about for the rest of the year?

What can you do, to come up with a reason for a sale during the rest of the year?

Well, here are 4 “reasons why” you can run a sale:

1.  When you release a new product – you can offer it at a discount to see if:

– there is market interest

– you’re trying to get testimonials (but make sure you are active with this)

– for people who sign up early, as a reward for their trust in you

2.  Scarcity reasons, like:

– Sale but only for the first X items

– You are low on inventory and you want to get rid of your remaining stock before placing a big order

– You are updating your product and the new version will cost more, so you’re liquidating what’s left at a special deal rate

3.  Personal Celebrations:

This can be things like birthdays… anniversaries — both wedding and length of time you’ve been in business… your child’s graduation… you met some kind of a fitness or income goal… whatever makes sense, really.

Basically this is any viable event you want to acknowledge.

4.  Lastly, there are a number of pretty cool online reference websites with all kinds of holiday information.

For example, did you know on April 22nd is Earth Day?

You can easily run a sale in honor of the Earth, no?

Or how about this one, on November 7th that just past – the end of Daylight Savings Time.

You can say, “Daylight’s not the only thing you’re going to be saving this week…”
