Small Business Marketing: Are these the weak messages you're giving prospects?
Quick – without giving this too much thought or looking into this for more information… answer these two questions:
1. Which doctor do you want to work with?
A. The one who charges $7,500 for a procedure, or…
B. The one who charges $1,500 for a procedure?
Now this one:
2. Which copywriter do you want to work with?
A. The one who can start on your project this afternoon, or…
B. The one who’s 3 or 4 weeks backed up with other projects?
If you’re like most people, you answered “A” for the first question, and “B” for the second one.
And that’s because when it comes down to it, charging higher prices and being busy or delaying access to you… DOESN’T alienate your buyers and cause business to slow down…
It actually… makes you more appealing!
Yes, people want you more!
Remember, human nature is such that people want those things they can’t easily have.
And yet… what’s the more common thing you see in ads?
Call me anytime… here’s my office number, my cell phone number, my back-office number for after hours… my wife’s pager if you can’t reach me, blah blah blah.
And then, “Lowest prices around”… “We match prices”… “Why pay more?”
Why pay more?
Well, how about, “So you can provide better quality goods and services and stronger customer support?”
And to me… that sounds like… a really good deal for everyone.
Never forget, your positioning… is… your future.
