Cure All Forms Of Disease!

Hard to imagine people fell for stuff like this.  But there again… it wasn’t two years ago that Acai — the “heals anything, causes weight loss” elixir — was being gobbled up faster than crack on the corner of a shady Bronx alleyway.

I imagine this ad is from the early 1900’s, but I love the text here:  “Professor Wilson practiced medicine twenty-five years, but now he seeks to make amends for having given his time to so pernicious a system as ‘drugging poor suffering humanity.’”

Well, some things never change I guess, and the medical system is surely one of those things, right?

You bet.

Check out the sales copy on this ad, it’s very good.

Ever wish you could have your very own… Pet Squirrel Monkey?

“Almost human with it’s warm eyes.”

So think about this.  You call up and order one.  It’s only 18.95 and you get a free cage, free leather chain, and so on.

Now remember, FedEx wasn’t around back then.  How much do you think it cost to get your little Pet Monkey to you — and how long did it take?

Sexist Ads: Heavy where she has to take the strain…

Sure, this is a sexist ad, but… it’s also a sexually provocative ad.

Interesting how in America, sexually provocative ads are “risque,” but sexism still isn’t.  Where in other countries, you have different outlooks on both of these things.

Eliminates Freckles, Blemishes, Blackheads

Interesting angle on this… how, back in the day the appeal was for “white skin,” and not clean, clear, or younger-looking skin.  And not a WORD mentioned about wrinkles — strange.

Iver Johnson Revolvers

Back in 1913, even little girls were “Real Men.”

Atomic Golf Ball

Seems like an awful lot of work to do, to find it.  No?

Instant Party Doll!

Ever stop and think to yourself, “I wonder what my parents did for fun when they were younger…?”

“She sits, stands, dances and floats.”  And hey… with a “40-20-40” figure, what more could you ask for.  (Comes in blonde, brunette, AND redhead.)

I just don’t get it…

Doesn’t this guy look like “Dexter?” from the TV Series?
