Copywriting Tips: 9 hot new headlines, and 3 ways to write 'em

I’m not like most people when it comes to writing headlines.

I don’t spend an hour or two on them… and I don’t have a rule that says I need to write down 50 or 60 headlines for every sales letter or space ad I write.

That would be incredibly time-wasting.

That would be like saying, you’re going to spend 2 hours a day in the gym – when any thorough workout can be done in 45-minutes to an hour or so.

You have to remember, you don’t get paid for the amount of time you spend on crafting your marketing messages.  You ONLY get paid for how effective your marketing is.

And for most people, part of being effective, is also being efficient.

No use spending three days doing something you can get done in an hour, right?

Of course not.

So with that in mind, here are three headline techniques that allow you to create incredibly effective headlines… very efficiently.

1.  Emotional Disturbs

Headlines that contain emotional disturbs are headlines that get your buyers all shaken up and worried.

They address the core issues your buyers are having… that your product or service solves.

Sometimes you can use questions when you’re creating emotional disturbs, like this:

How many times have you already put YOUR infant child at risk?

Which one of these three common household medications (prescribed by 99% of all family doctors)… will wind up being responsible for your first heart attack?

How To Avoid A Painful Divorce

2.  News Headlines

If you’ve ever read any of John Caples’ books, then you know he was a big fan of these kinds of headlines.

The theory is, people are willing to interrupt their lives to read current news, and so you just adapt this theory to whatever it is you’re selling.

3.  The Storyteller

And then there’s the story-telling headline, which can also be an actual testimonial you might have received.  These headlines look like this:

They laughed when I told them I mastered poker, but when I flew back from Vegas on a private jet… their jaws nearly hit the ground!

Last year a near-fatal car wreck left me in a wheelchair — yesterday… I finished my second marathon!

After years of struggling… this former New York City cab driver now runs a money-making EMPIRE.  And it was these few simple changes… that finally made it happen.

“My garden is simply FILLED with Roses!”

See, when you know what you’re doing, you don’t have to spend hours doing something.  You just have to spend a few minutes… doing it right.
