There's A Reason Why People Are Broke!

Dear Friend,

Yesterday, I received a somewhat critical note from an irate e-mail subscriber of mine.  I will not reveal who it was because it would so embarrass this person that they'd probably have no way of ever saving grace.  (Note that this person has never bought anything, so to waste my time with him, really would be a waste of my time.  There's a lesson here I hope you get.)

In a nutshell, he told me how when he first visited my site, he wanted to buy The Seductive Selling System - http://www.kingofcopy.com/seductive - but after discussing it with his employee, his employee felt it wasn't necessary and so he didn't.

Then he went on a freaking tirade about how, the more he thought about "me and my kind of marketing", the more he realized how repulsive and "common" it was.

You're going to find, the more you write, and the more you market, the more open to criticism you'll be.  A lot of people (most of them who sell nothing and who are perpetually broke and desperate) will say you're being "cheezy" or that your appeal isn't strong enough to THEIR customers.

Appreciate that nearly all of these people have never written a sales letter, created a display ad that sold, dropped a few thousand letters in the mail... or tried to use Seductive Selling with anyone.  Heck, for all I know, maybe they've never even been "seductive" in general.

The point is, those who criticise are usually MILES behind you.  People who are at your level or higher, are typically open-minded, eager to learn and help, and rarely offer criticism unless it is constructive.

Now here's the real kicker: I went to the webiste of this this so-called "expert" (who lets his non-marketing employees make marketing decisions for him) and you know what?

He's not even selling anything on it!

So obviously, he's in a fantastic position to criticise my "cheezy selling techniques", right?  That'd be like me trying to give you a valid opinion on whether you shoud buy a big sail boat or a little sailboat.

I sailed on a boat one time in Hawaii, about 20 years ago, but that doesn't make me qualified to give you an opinion on it, any more than someone who sells nothing on a website where the sales copy is rancid, is qualified to opine on my selling process, now does it?
