When To Do It... And When NOT To

Dear Friend,

Today I'll go through a few fast answers for some common questions that get sent in.

Before though, I just want to remind you that the cost of The Seductive Selling System is going up by $100 soon, so get your hands on your copy NOW!  On this month's Seductive Selling Coaching Call CD, which is also included, I reveal revealed 21 specific ways to create your actual USP (Unique Selling Proposition).  Get it at http://www.kingofcopy.com/seductive

Now for the questions:

Q: When should I write my headline?  I always hear people say you need to write 50 to 100 headlines after you finish your sales copy, this way you make sure you find a good one, but I never seem to get this right.

A: You're really asking TWO questions.  WHEN you should write your headline is the first, so let's get at it.  Most people write their headline AFTER they finish their sales letter, display ad, or whenever -- and this is dead wrong.  Writing a sales letter -- especially a long one -- is sometimes exhausting, and when you're finished, your energy level is low.  So why would you want to create something (your headline) that may be responsible for perhaps 80% of your success, when your energy level is at it's lowest?

Sounds kinda silly, no?

You write your headline FIRST, when you are fresh and bubbly and filled with energy.  That doesn't mean you can't re-vamp it later on during the creative process, but get those ideas down on paper when your bursting with life, not when all the life you have's been drained out of you.

Make sense?

The second question, which is really "How many headlines should you write?" is no more answerable than the question of "How many kids should you have?"

You write enough headlines until you know you've got the semblance of a few killer headlines buried amongst what you did.  For some people, that number may be 5... for others, they may very well NEED to write down 100 headlines.  I tend to write somewhere between 10 and 25 headlines, although when I started I probably wrote a little more than this.

Q: Craig, how do I make myself the expert?  I'm just getting started out and I struggle with this.

A: This is a GREAT question and it's one that LOADS of people struggle with, regardless of where they are in their career or in their level of expertise.  I can't tell you everything about this, because on page 5 of this month's Seductive Selling Newsletter, which you can try for FREE right here: http://www.kingofcopy.com/ssnl -- I have a detailed article on this specific topic (including some secrets about myself).  But... I will say that unless you are prepared to "be" the expert, you're going to no doubt have much more buyer resistance to whatever it is you're selling.

Q: What's the most commom problem you run into when you're helping a client?

A: Truth is, there are a lot of similar problems I see, but one of the biggest problem is trying to sell direct instead of using a 2-step lead generation system.  See, lead generation is, by far, the safest and most productive way of selling, and of collecting leads.  Most people skip this step because there's more work that's involved, but when it comes down to it, that's like skipping over the "diet" part of the "diet and exercise" formula for losing weight.  You'll only go so far.  In The Seductive Selling System - http://www.kingofcopy.com/ssnl - you actually get a FULL HOUR Audio CD interview and transcript about nothing BUT lead generation.  You get the four situations where you MUST use lead generation to sell, as well as a few other marketing strategies to combine with your lead generation system.

Keep pumpin'

Now go sell something,
