Curious Johnny, Curious George's Evil Twin Brother

Dear Friend,

The other day I had a guy out here to take a look at my property and tell me what it's going to cost to spray our lawn and shrubs to get rid of some chinch bugs we have.  I have no idea what these bugs are or what they look like, but I do know they make my grass a putrid shade of brown.

Frankly, this guy who came out -- I think he said his name was Johnny -- was a royal pain in the ass.  Lord knows Jonny didn't shut up for even a second, but one thing he did do, was ask me loads of questions -- none of them about my lawn.

I guess in chinch bug selling school, they told him it's good to establish rapport or something, and if by "establish rapport" you mean, browbeat me to death about everything going on in my life, and completely irritating me to no end and wasting my time -- Johnny was VERY freakin' successful.

He asked me about my dog, my wife, my dock, my home, my car, my kids, my lake, fishing, my work, the broken slabs of wood on the edge of the lake -- I swear, I was all ready for the "boxers or briefs" question -- but for some reason Johnny stopped short of this one.  (It's briefs, by-the-way -- easier access.)  In fact, if Johnny wasn't so truly stupid, I'd have thought he was setting me up for a heist or something.

Needless to say, I found this incredibly annoying and Johnny didn't get my business.  In fact, I'd have paid Johnny $50 bucks just to NOT have come by, sparing me the pain and suffering he caused.  But let's face it, Johnny wasn't really curious about these things, he was just nosy and ignorant.

And I can assure you, this won't be the only time I'll meet someone who's nosy and ignorant -- in fact, it probably won't even be the only time this week I meet someone like that.

But in reality, TRUE curiosity is a very powerful emotion.  And people who are truly curious about things will go to great lengths to get this curiosity resolved.  Here, let me give you a few examples: Throughout human history, rumors about mysterious behavior have turned into HUGE scandalous witch hunts, both secularly, and religiously.  Heck, you can even think of Martha Stewart as someone who suffered a modern-day witch hunt - her deeds (right or wrong) notwithstanding.

Here's another rumor that made people INSANELY curious: Back in the 1940's, someone made up a rumor that the Japanese had named one of their towns "USA" so they could legally sell products marked "Made in the USA."

Not true of course.

The point is, once you can make your prospect curious, you really DO have them in the palm of your hand.  And in The Seductive Selling System - http://www.kingofcopy.com/seductive -- I devote an entire chapter to curiosity, showing you LIVE examples of exactly how to make your prospects VERY curious, so they're compelled to delve more into what it is you're offering them, ultimately resolving this curiosity by buying.  How powerful is this system?  Well, Darryl DeLong, The SEO King from Nashua, New Hampshire said "it's worth more than any one day copywriting workshop that people pay thousands to attend just to get a few direct response copywriting “secrets” that they can learn and start using.  I can’t wait to use these emotional buy-buttons in the copy I write for my clients.!”

Kinda makes you... curious, doesn't it?

Now go sell something,

Craig Garber
