A Change Is Gonna Come
Dear Friend,
In 1964, Sam Cooke broke the barriers of racial segration wide open with his song "A Change Is Gonna Come." It was one of the first songs of blatant hope and redemption for equal rights that was released to the public.
Now remember the other day when I said change -- even when it's a "good" change -- always makes you a little uncomfortabe?
Well, so you don't think I'm immune to this stuff myself, let me share a little story with you. I'll tell you what I did yesterday. I did something I haven't done in so long, I can't remember. You know what I did?
I did...
Nothing!
I actually took the day off and hung out with my lovely wife, and then I picked my daughter up from school and we colored.
Then in the evening, I went out on the dock and did some fishing with both of my sons. (The battery in my boat is drained or else we'd have been out on the water.)
And to tell you the truth, I felt a little "antsy" about the whole thing.
In fact, I didn't get comfortable with being off, until around noon time. But you know what -- like everything else in life, the first time you do something is always the hardest, and so the next time I do this (and believe me, it's going to be in a couple of weeks, not in a few years like this past time) I'm going to enjoy it more, look forward to it more, and be a lot more comfortable with it.
By the way, if you've never heard Cooke's "A Change Is Gonna Come," go out and buy his greatest hits CD and listen to it. It will give you shivers up and down your spine. If you aren't moved by Cooke's voice, and by his completely emotional pleas as he's baring his soul, then not only should you start going to therapy or something like that, but you should probably unsubscribe yourself from this list.
You see, what Seductive Selling is all about, is making that emotional connection with your prospect... pushing their buy-buttons... and compelling them to take action by making them feel something. And if you don't feel something yourself when you listen to Cooke's song, then you can tap out the limits on all the credit cards you have, and fork over all that money to me -- and I simply couldn't help you be a better marketer.
And if I can't, no one can. Peace.
By the way, I'm just finishing up this month's Seductive Selling Newsletter, and it's a killer: http://www.kingofcopy.com/ssnl
Now go sell something,
