Wanna Spoon?

Dear Friend,

I mean it -- a real soup spoon!

LIsten to this, because if you use direct mail, and you can think outside the box, it will open your eyes to ways of boosting your response rates, which is the number one problem I have to solve with when I'm consulting clients -- http://www.kingofcopy.com/consulting

And here's one way of doing just that:

I came across a piece of mail the other day -- it was a large, oversized envelope, and it was sort of "lumpy" inside. (This alone will make you open up the envelope.)

I opened it up and there were several things that caught my eye, instantly.

First of all, there was a very large, plastic soup spoon inside, and the headline of the letter read -- "Craig's Guide To Spoon-Fed Success".

Now even if you WEREN'T interested in reading this letter, you'd have a very hard time resisting reading it, right?

Because the "curiosity" factor would simply be so overwhelming and compelling, you'd have to at least glance through it, true?

Look, your prospects are busy -- and their lives are getting busier by the moment -- so if you're direct mail piece isn't like a little "forced interruption" thrust into their daily lives, you're going to have a tough time getting your mail OPENED, let alone read.

But be careful...

You want to be a positive interruption -- like an out-of-the-blue
delivery of beautiful fresh flowers -- and not a negative interruption --
like an angry letter from a trial attorney!

So figure out how you can do this with whatever you're selling and you'll immediately start reaping the benefits from it.

Listen, I'm leaving for the U.K. for a couple of weeks now.  And although it's a business trip, a good portion of my trip will be purely pleasure with my wife and kids.

And since I haven't had a proper "full" vacation since 1998 when we went to Hawaii, I'm L-O-O-N-G overdue.

I have NO idea whether or not some of the nice little B & B's where we're staying, will even have an internet connection, let alone a wireless connection, so for the next couple of weeks you will NOT be hearing from me regularly.

I DO however, have some surprises I am going to try and roll out for you during that time, so keep your eyes open and your ears to the ground, looking out for them.

Also, I'm going to answer a few questions that really aren't related to marketing that some of my subscribers have sent in, just to lighten things up a bit.

For example, "Are there really gators in Florida, and do you have them in your lake?"...

"How many hours a week do you really work?"... and...

"I have a few questions about my direct mail promotion -- can you give me a few "quickie" answers to them?"

Talk to you soon.

Now go sell something,

Craig Garber
