The Honeymoon's Over

Dear Friend,

Reminder:  My "How To At LEAST Triple The Response Of Your Display Ads" FREE teleseminar will be on June 1st, and you can sign up for it right here:  http://www.mediabids.com/landing/seminar/AdvLandingTeleseminar.html

Question:  How do you know when the honeymoon's over in most business situations?

Answer:  After you've become a customer!

I bet something like this has happened to you too.

A few weeks ago I was applying for a credit card being issued from my Alma Mater (City University Of New York - Bernard M. Baruch College, a freakin' steal at $23 bucks a credit, believe me).  I was completely astounded at how efficient the entire process was.  Not only did the credit card company pick up the phone on the 2nd ring, but they transferred me through, almost immediately.

The people I spoke with were articulate and knowledgeable and they actually understood how the credit process worked... they were VERY helpful and accomodating... and they didn't "push" very hard on the cross-selling process.

They approved my credit (believe it or not, I still have a problem with this from time-to-time, from a bankruptcy I went through back in 1997), and then they sent me along on my merry way, and about 10 days later I got my card in the mail.

Now fast-forward to the day I get my card.  I need to call the company up to ask a question, so I register the new card and peel off the sticker, I call the number on the back... and... I wait...

And wait... and wait...

Here I was, when I was applying for the card, feeling the way you do on your wedding day -- like the most important person in the world.  (Your first wedding, anyway.  On your second wedding, you MAY feel like the luckiest person ever, but... you also feel scared shitless.)  And there I was, back to being treated just like everyone else, AFTER I was approved.  The honeymoon truly was over.

I wasn't frustrated at the process, becasue that's just the way things go, I was simply frustrated I got duped into thinking "this time it's different".

All part of life though, right?

Is there a "gap" like this in your business?  Because if there is, you need to close it -- quickly.  See, some big nameless faceless huge bank isn't going to run out of customers wanting credit -- ever.  But the little guys, like you and me -- we don't have it so lucky.

When it comes to customer service -- for us -- ignorance is NOT bliss.

You know, yesterday, my Seductive Selling newsletter came back from the printers and today and tomorrow fulfillment will be taking place.  On page 12, one of the things you'll read about are the "behind the scenes" issues you need to consider, about the character you "play" in your marketing, along with an example of one of my favorite newsletter characters, "Uncle Homer".

The thing is, there are certain "character" issues you need to think about, to figure out how to incorporate them into your personality with your audience -- or how NOT to.  If you want to check it out, you can test-drive Seductive Selling, for FREE, right here:  http://www.kingofcopy.com/ssnl
