The OTHER Big Problem With New Customers

Dear Friend,

Here's a new feature you can make VERY good use of, if you're a Seductive Selling Newsletter Subscriber.  From now on, you are going to get an "open call-in" day with me, once every quarter.  This means you can call in and get 10 minutes with me on the phone, one-on-one, and this is very likely to be the most important conversation you have about your business all year.

The first call-in will be on September 21st, from 10 am to 4pm, Florida time.  I'll be posting more details in this summer's double-issue.  If you are NOT a Seductive Selling Newsletter Subscriber, and you want to be one, then go to http://www.kingofcopy.com/ssnl and do so right now.  You get to test-drive it for 3-months totally free, so there's no risk to you.

The other day I received a nice card from long-term subscriber David Dutton (thanks David).  The card said "It takes years to find a good customer and only seconds to lose one."

This is very true, but there is something else most people don't think about when it comes to new customers.  It also takes a ton of money to find a new customer.  You spend FAR more money trying to get a new customer, then you'd ever spend on selling your existing customers something else.  And selling one of your customers something else, especially if they've had a good experience the first time around, is also much easier.

So by NOT focusing on repeat sales -- which most people do NOT do -- you're spending more time and money on getting lower probability sales.  And that sounds like a very frustrating way of doing business -- a long journey across a short distance.

It's been my experience in consulting with hundreds of entrepreneurs over the last 6 years, and even when speaking to some of the members of my VIP Maverick Marketer Group - http://www.kingofcopy.com/maverickmarketer - there are THREE main reasons why people don't focus on making additional sales to their current customers, and here they are:

1. Not paying enough attention to what's going on.  Most entrepreneurs don't have a game plan or a system.  Instead, they're busy flying by the seat of their pants, moving from one crisis to another.  It's always the 11th hour for them.

One of the best things you can do for yourself is to just stop and think about your business and your life.  Sit down with a yellow pad and a good cigar like I do (cigar is optional) and just write down some notes.  Think about your processes and figure out what's missing, what you're struggling with, and possible solutions to make things easier for you, both process-wise, and financially.

Making additional sales to your existing customers is an easy way of solving many of these issues.

2. You don't know what to sell them.  This is a VERY common problem, and there are a few ways of solving it.  One, you do the "yellow pad" thing I just mentioned to you.  You'll be amazed at some of the good ideas you can come up with when you put your mind to it.

Two, see what your competition is selling and how they're doing it.  Often times, all you need to do is see things from someone else's point of view, to get a good idea or a handle on your own situation.

Three, you can simply ask your customers or clients, what else can you give them, that they would want from you.  You'll be amazed at what they'll tell you.

3. Not thinking about it in the first place.  For some reason, probably because your early selling experiences were so fraught with desperation, most people don't even think about selling something more than once.  You're so focused on getting "new blood" through the door, you're on automatic.  Again, this is the value of putting your day on pause for an hour-or-so, every once-in-a-while.

In fact, it's during "quiet time" away from business, that I come up with some of my best ideas.  When I'm sleeping, fishing, working out, or even when I'm in the shower.

If you order any of my products, and especially if you subscribe to Seductive Selling, you'll see what I mean.  I put a lot of effort into giving my clients and customers a GREAT experience, and to selling them other things they need.

Have a great weekend and think about what I said today.  Using these techniques may change the entire direction of your life.

Now go sell something,

Craig Garber
