Out Of Sight... Out Of Mind
Dear Friend,
Gosh, it hasn't even been a week since I wrote my last tip, but for some reason it seems like it's been longer.
And believe me, if it seems like it's been a while since YOU last spoke to your prospects, clients, or whoever's paying your bills, than believe me, to them it seems like...
An Eternity!
Yesterday I was speaking with a consulting client - http://www.kingofcopy.com/coaching - and he said something like "The truth is, we only send out something one time a year. Is that bad?"
The good news is, deep down inside, he KNEW the answer to his own question already, and that is, the longer you do NOT stay in contact with your prospects, the less important you become to them.
Why is that? The answer is simple: Clutter.
In today's crazy up-and-down world, your prospects lives are just FILLED with clutter. They've got too much going on and not enough time to get it all done in... too many bills to pay... and they're generally being pulled in many different directions, all at once.
And as entrepreneurs, it becomes even MORE important you safeguard YOUR time, using it wisely for those things that are either making you money, creating personal growth and development in your life, or helping your business go in the direction you want to take it -- otherwise it's simply NOT a good use of your time at all.
Many people foolishly and mistakenly believe, once a customer is "yours", then that's it. That you don't have any more need to communicate with them, that they'll fall back on your good services the next time they need you. But reality is...
Nothing Could Be Further From The Truth!
Just the same way you need to generally contact someone MULTIPLE times before they'll order from you the first time, if you want your existing customer base to order from you AGAIN, you've got to play by the same rules, consnstently staying in contact with them, feeding them good information, showing them your awesome personality (or else creating some kind of a "character" with an awesome personality), and making them smile and sit up in their chair and take notice of you.
Listen, if it seems like a while since I sat down to write a tip, and it's only been six days... if you're waiting months to contact your customers and prospects, then rest assured, to them -- if seems like a lifetime. So get on this and fix this problem, right away.
Now go sell something,
Craig Garber
