On "Not" Working
Dear Friend,
Tomorrow is Thanksgiving here in America.
What will you be doing?
Anything exciting?
One thing I'll be doing is "not working."
It's ironic, isn't it, that if you're a "worker", "not working" is more of an event... or an "activity" you have to gear yourself up for, rather than a "normal" pause in your life, isn't it?
And this is NOT uncommon
In fact, I've been at seminars where the lion's share of the "teaching" revolved around explaining or helping people do less work.
And don't kid yourself -- people who go out of their way to try and show you how little they're working and how much money they're making, are completely full of crap.
Although there may be the odd person or two who is in that situation -- and typically, that doesn't come about until years and years of aiming for this -- everyone I know who's making a lot of money works damn hard for it.
So what are you "thankful" for nowadays?
Good fortune?
Good luck?
Hot women... fast cars... your new computer?
Personally, I don't believe in being thankful for "stuff". I think that borders on having a scarcity mindset.
See, I believe you get what you deserve, meaning you "attract" things to you based on the kinds of energy you're giving off... your belief system... and your true feelings about yourself.
So for me, I'm thankful for my ability to "attract" certain things, people and experiences, into my life. That's more of a prosperity mindset -- recognizing your own ability and efforts contributing to your success -- not thinking things happened randomly.
Now of course a bunch of people reading this will say, "Well what about when people get sick and die of cancer or other horrible diseases -- do you attract those as well?"
I don't know.
I know some really really beautiful people who've suffered from illnesses, and they damn sure didn't deserve it -- you know good and well they couldn't have possibly "attracted" things like this.
But at the same time, I know a lot of miserable people who definitely HAVE attracted bad mojo to themselves who absolutely DID deserve it.
So basically, let's limit my "attraction" theory about thankfulness and all that, to "good things" only. And besides, it's my daily e-mail, so I can limit it to whatever I want, right?
Now having said all this, here are just a few of the many things I'm thankful for being able to attract, in no particular order except the first one:
My wife. Believe me, it's NOT easy being "Mrs. Kingofcopy" -- but she handles it better than anyone ele could possibly handle it and on top of that, she's the person I enjoy spending all my free time with. And I can tell you for sure, without her encouragement during the "bad times", I would never have pushed through to see the good times.
My good friend and mentor -- let's just call him "Mr. X" for now. Everyone else's screw-up was our good fortune. And by the way, You'll be able to meet "Mr. X" in person at my seminar in sunny Orlando, Florida in March, and I'll be announcing all the details about it tomorrow on http://www.InformationMarketingExpo.com
- My lakeside home. I never thought I'd enjoy simply "living" in my house so much, but it feels great. And as a word to the wise, if you're ever thinking about really "stepping up" your lifestyle, but you've held back a bit because you're concerned about the financial side -- jump on the opportunity to do so, right away. You have NO idea what a difference it will make in your life and how much better you'll feel about yourself and your success once you do this.
And the ironic thing is, you'll attract all the money you need, as long as your mindset is right.
-
My kids. Being a parent isn't easy, not by a long-shot, and you tend to expect more from your kids than they should be able to deliver. But when I look around and see other parent's children, I realize I'm better off than I think.
- And last, but by no means least... you. Rest assured you've been drawn to a guy (me) who's a lot more talented than most copywriters and marketers out there, and who's a lot more "real" as well. And I'm especially glad I attracted YOU personally, because if I didn't attract you... then who else would listen to me every day?
Happy Thanksgiving.
