"Is That What They Call It Nowadays?"

Now most of the articles in The Official Direct-Marketing Newsletter are obviously, marketing and sales-copy related, but I also like to put a smile across your face every now-and-again, with little snippets of "reality", and so here's a small tid-bit from last month's issue, called "Damn That Made Me Feel Old". I think you'll like it, so here it is:
"I’m a pretty hard guy to embarrass, but when this comment was recently made to me -- by my own son nonetheless -- I had no “comeback,” period. Outside of a smile, I was absolutely dumbfounded.
Here’s what went down: We’re going up to New York City for a long weekend in May, and when I booked the rooms, I foolishly only booked one of them. And as you can probably figure out, if you don’t already know this from your own experience, being in a room with three kids, is FAR from relaxing.
Luckily, after going back-and-forth, I was able to get a very empathetic woman from the sales office at the Marriott Marquis, to get us another adjoining room where the kids could stay.
Later on that evening, I was telling my oldest son that mom and I got a separate room so we could “hang out and relax together”, he said “Oh, is that what they call it nowadays.”
