How To Avoid Big-Time Hassles
Dear Friend,
There are only a few things in this world I'll go out of my way to completely avoid getting involved with.
One of them is my ex-wife.
And another one of them is car dealerships.
So needless to say, every few years when one of us has to get a car... there's always some anxiety involved.
But this year, I figured out a way to make SURE I'd be treated a little differently. I had to do something that would give me control over the car-buying process, and yet minimize the amount of contact I'd have with the salesman and dealership people in general, as well as slowing down all "follow up" phone calls, to a crawl.
Plus, since Anne was doing the legwork here, I had to keep the wolves at bay, knowing they'd try and rip her off as much as possible, since it seems women are more aggressively pursued and swindled by car dealers.
So, here's what I did.
Anne went around test-driving a few different makes and models she thought she might like.
After years of hauling kids around in mini-vans, although we still need a roomy vehicle, she wound up settling on something a little more "progressive" -- a Nissan Pathfinder.
Then I put my mind to work and here's the e-mail I drafted and sent out to 8 of the local dealerships.
This is an idea you can use to buy almost anything. Here, check it out:
Subject Line: How To End 2005 With A Fast And Easy Sale! "Dear Friend, If you want to close your year-end out with a fast and easy sale, then this is the most exciting and important message you will ever read! I want to buy a 2006 Nissan Pathfinder SE, 4 x 2… right NOW! It should have: • Graphite exterior Easy, right? So here’s the deal. I’m sending this same e-mail to 8 (EIGHT) local dealerships here in the Tampa Bay area, and the one who gets me the most favorable terms first, gets my business. Terms: I want to put ZERO (O) DOWN… we have good credit (bankruptcy in February 1997, been perfect since, homeowner, stable, not a nut-case, etc.). Again, the dealer who e-mails or faxes me (DO NOT CALL) the most favorable leasing terms, the soonest -- gets the business, hands down -- no questions asked. Please send your e-mail directly to me at , or if you prefer you can fax me directly at 954-337-2369 (I am local in Lutz, despite the area code.) Thank you for reading this message and thanks for your time. Regards, Craig Garber P.S. Oh, one more thing and it’s important: This will literally be the easiest sale you’ve ever made, if you simply give me what I’m asking for. I’m doing this for TWO reasons. One, I’m a busy guy and I don’t have time to handle this any other way. And two, bluntly, I’ve just had too many unpleasant experiences dealing with auto dealers. So PLEASE, do us both a favor -- if you give me a quote for one thing… but once we start finalizing -, it turns out to be “different”… or if you start trying to upsell me and pressure me… this will go from being your easiest sale ever… to your worst Nightmare!" |
Wanna know what happened?
Well, quotes started coming in about 20 minutes after I sent out my inquiry. I received about 10 different quotes -- some dealerships sent me TWO quotes when they didn't hear back from me after they sent me the first one, and one or two of the dealerships didn't respond at all.
Prices ranged from $439 dollars a month all the way down to...
$349 Dollars a month!
That's a pretty big spread, no?
I contacted the dealer I wanted to work with... had them FAX me the paperwork... and then they delivered the car to us, right to the front door of my house.
You can save a LOT of time and headaches doing things this way.
It was funny, because they wanted me to come in to sign the papers, but when I asked them "How do I benefit by coming in?"
They simply said... "O.K. -- no problem, we'll fax them to you."
I knew they were looking to upsell me in person and like I said, I just don't have patience for this -- I don't suffer fools easily.
Anyhow, you can use this technique to buy or acquire anything.
It's based on the same principles of direct-response, and the same techniques I'll be teaching at my Information Marketing Expo seminar in March -- http://www.informationmarketingexpo.com -- If you're smart, you'll be there, bright-eyed and bushy-tailed, and eager to turn your business around, faster than I turned the process of buying cars around.
Now go sell something,
