Does It Really Feel Better When You "Hold Out" Longer?

Dear Friend,

Holy cow, I have surpassed even my own wildest imagination!  I just spent the last 2 days writing the big Summer double issue of the Seductive Selling Newsletter - http://www.kingofcopy.com/ssnl - and frankly, I should be charging you a few hundred bucks just for this issue alone!

There are more good ideas in this newsletter than you can get in twenty newsletters all combined, and I know, because I subscribe and read a LOT of different publications, and I also set the bar pretty high for myself.  Meaning, if something's good by MY standards, it's damn-near impossibly perfect by most people's standards. And now let's talk about those standards.

You know, one of the things people are always commenting on, is how freely giving I am with the information I give out.  Now don't get me wrong -- I'm not talking about giving away "free" information -- I'm talking about when people are paying for my time and coaching, I don't hold anything back.

And why should I?

Is there a cap on the amount of knowledge and informatoin and good ideas that are out there?

Are you supposed to "ration" what's available?  What -- am I supposed to sit here thinking "Oh my gosh, I've only got 27 ideas left for this guy.  At this pace, we'll be done with all my ideas by September and he'll go away.  What will I do THEN?"

That's absurd.  First of all, in my world, which is the world of abundance, there is an UNLIMITED amount of clients... business... ideas... cash... basically everything -- except time.  This is the ONLY thing we have that's limited, and in fact, I spend a good amount of time talking about it in this month's Seductive Selling Newsletter, and how you're to effectively deal with this, the perspective you MUST have, in order to use it wisely.

People who "hold out" on revealing good ideas, are also always playing the game of Pinocchio.  When my older son Nick was about 3 years old, he'd watch Pinocchio over-and-over-and-over again.  As soon as the VHS tape would hit the end, we'd have to re-wind it.  It was as if that little wooden doll had some kind of a mystical hold over him.  (And no, he didn't grow up to be a pathological liar, but he does seem to have a head made of wood at times.)

Well, people who are holding out on good ideas are, to some extent, like the wooden doll.  You're not really "lying", but you're not telling the truth, either.  And so each time you're at it, you've got to put some time aside to figure out what you held back last time, and what you can afford to let slip out this time (As if the person you're talking to can implement every single idea you're giving them, anyway.).

This is simply too much work for me.  I mean, I'm a pretty sharp guy, but you really need to be sharp in a scavenger-like way to do this.  And that smart, I'm not.

There's a difference between being able to survive anything that's thrown at you... and constantly surviving at the expense of someone else.  The first one's a necessity of living, but the second one's just a crapload of extra time and energy I don't have the time for.

The other problem with "hoarding" ideas is that you get stale.  You're always living off your "stash" instead of challenging yourself and pushing yourself to new heights of achievement.  And frankly, I'm not that old and tired that I care to do that just yet.

Lastly, the truth is, ideas are like bodybuilding, in a sense.  No matter HOW much weight you can lift, there's always someone else out there who can EASILY whip your best, even on a bad day for them.  And it's the same thing with ideas.  No matter how great an idea you have -- there's a guy or a gal out there, who thought of that piddly tid-bit years ago.

And besides, the more you give away, the more comes back to you.  That's just how things work.  In the world I live in anyway.

Oh, and the less you give... well... you know what happens there as well.
