¿Cómo se dice "accountant"?

Dear Friend,

Today's gonna be a quickie because I'm on my way out of town for the weekend.

So no more tips until next Monday after today.

And if you expressed an interest in my affiliate program I mentioned over the last couple of days, and you haven't yet contacted me, you'll need to call or e-mail me by Monday to get in on it, because the gates are closed after that.

Here's something pretty shocking:  A new Gallup poll just released shows that the public's views of "accountants" has gone up considerably since last year.

I simply can NOT imagine the kinds of questions asked in this poll, or the type of people who participated in the survey, to derive that answer.

Perhaps it was children under age 11 who's parent's were accountants?

Or maybe they asked people who weren't English-speaking, and they took any kind of response, nod or grunt, or even a curious look, as a "positive".

How could anyone who hasn't been under a rock for the past 3 years or so, feel the quality of the accounting profession has gone up, especially in light of the HUGE public scandals that have gone on, resulting in millions of dollars in fraud.  For instance...

  • Each of the "Big Five" national accounting firms have either admitted to or been charged with negligence in their auditing duties.  And to be charged or admit negligence, you're basically saying you didn't even do the bare bones basic minimum you were supposed to, to complete your job.

  • And how about these accounting scandals:  Enron, Xerox, Cendant, Adelphia, Computer Associates, Freddie Mac, Haliburton, Duke Energy, HealthSouth, homestore.com, K-Mart (looks like they took the blue light specials a little too far), Lucent, Merrill Lynch, Sunbeam, Tyco, Waste Management, WorldCom, AIG...

I'm sure there's gotta be some more I left out, but these were all VERY BIG stories.

So why do you think, or how do you think it's possible that people's opinion of accountants has improved?

I'm really stumped here, and bluntly, I think this is a croc.

What I DO believe this shows, is that you can manipulate or skew any kind of data, to show any kind of results you want, if you work hard enough at it.

Big drug companies are always getting busted for doing this, and so are the camps of political candidates.  Lawyers make careers out of it, and who knows what else.

But this also shows that no matter how much you're struggling with your writing, and with getting your pitch out there, if they can make truth out of lies, then you can damn sure sell the hell out of the truth, and do a good job marketing the honest and decent goods and services you're offering.

Right?

Now go sell something,

Craig Garber
