Are You "Connected"?
Dear Friend,
I was driving around today running a few errands with my younger son, Casey.
We heard a song on the radio I hadn't heard in a while -- it was Oleander's "Why I'm Here" from their 1999 CD, "February Son."
Oleander soulds a little like Nirvana crossed with the Foo Fighters.
This song really kicks ass. Like many songs you probably enjoy, it gets you pumped up and yet every time the chorus comes around, the notes "resolve" themselves musically, and some-how you're "calmed down" yet you're feeling a LOT better about yourself than you were just a few moments before.
When I got home, I immediately pulled open my CD cabinet and dropped this disc into my CD player.
In fact I'm listening to it right now as I'm writing this.
Then, a few minutes after I sat down to write today, I got this e-mail from one of my partners I'm working on a project with. He was commenting on a thank-you letter I had written, and this is what he had to say:
"Hi Craig,
Like the letter and it really does give out an aura of we care about their success and that they are in the top % for taking action.
Big pat on your back."
So why is it that my letter, and Oleander's (named after the highly poisonous shrubbish-like wildflower that grows in Northern California) song, has that emotional impact on you?
I'm going to tell you why, and if you spend your time thinking about this, each-and-every-time you sit down to write a marketing piece, you're going to be able to do a much better job of selling than you are now.
The answer is, these pieces are some-how "connecting" with your audience.
See, making a "connection", is the bedrock foundation of ANY kind of a relationship, but especially in a SELLING relationship, where trust is such a key issue, and there really isn't time, for the most part, for your prospect and customers, to get to really "know" you.
So the next time you're getting ready to fire up a new marketing piece, or if you want to re-do an existing marketing piece, before you do ANYTHING else, ask yourself this question:
"How can I connect with my buyer?"
They'll be a lot more receptive to what you have to say... and you'll be a LOT more excited about your results.
And if you want to know HOW to make that connection, we'll be spending quite a bit of time on that, at my Information Marketing Expo event, in March - http://www.informationmarketingexpo.com . And remember, if you register to attend right NOW, you will be getting 3 additional benefits:
1. You'll be beating the early registration deadline -- tuition increases by $250 Dollars at the end of this month, and why shouldn't you keep that extra dough for yourself?
2. You get to sit down and have a private dinner with Neil and myself, and we'll pick up the tab. We're giving this to the first 5 people who register after the first of the year, and we still have slots left open.
3. You'll be entered into a drawing to win either a full day of one-on-one consulting with Neil or myself, worth $5,000 Dollars -- or one of two, half-days of in-person consulting worth $2,500 Dollars.
So get off your tush, and get on over to http://www.informationmarketingexpo.com, right NOW!
Now go sell something,
Craig Garber
