A Great Close To A Busy Week
Dear Friend,
I get a lot of personal e-mails, and most of them are nice. Here's a conversation I recently had that was particularly rewarding. I am leaving out some parts of the conversation, particularly a story that I'll tell at my year-end Mastermind And Sales Copy Retreat (details in this month's Seductive Selling Newsletter http://www.kingofcopy.com/ssnl ), but I think you'll get the "gist" of the meaning anyway.
Read it, think about it, and have a fantastic weekend:
Here's some of the first sequence, I'll save the rest for sometime next week if you behave:
"Craig, I finally subscribed to your Seductive Selling Newsletter… I’ve been faithfully reading your emails for months now and finally came to the conclusion that you have the most direct, no BS information I’ve read. And I read a lot of stuff from all the internet “gurus”."
*** Thanks again, and you will never be disappointed with ANYTHING you order from me.
"I emailed you several months ago about copywriting and you told me to learn all I could about marketing. I’ll keep this short, but I want to give you a little background.
I’m a XX and enjoy my job. However, I want to eventually write, market, do consulting and speak fulltime at some point in the future. I’ve been studying/writing copy for about 2 years. I study all the well-known copywriters like Halbert, Carlton, Makepeace, etc. (and yourself). I know how to sell and am trying to develop my copywriting/marketing business on the side while I work my fulltime job. On the projects I’ve developed for my clients, they’ve had very good response rates. But I need to take it to the next level and supercharge by business."
*** Sounds like a GREAT plan. If you "need to take it to the next level and supercharge your business", and if you WANT to do this, then just "take it to the next level and supercharge your business" and do it. The only permission you need is your own. Right?
Simple as that.
"I’ve got several interesting projects I’m currently working on but it takes me longer to get it all done because I can’t devote my daily working hours to it. I have to do it either early in the morning before business hours or at night."
*** Understood. steady and consistent is the way.
"This is why I like your material so much. I know that my limitations are in my head. I’m well-educated (maybe that’s the problem…ha) but I was raised with a scarcity mentality, and the “money is evil/wrong” attitude by my well-meaning but very religious parents. It’s taken me years to get over this (I think I still fight this to a small degree)."
*** Thanks for opening up and being real. There's a great article about this in this month's NL that gives you my perspective on exactly this. It IS an ongoing battle.
"I really appreciate your honesty and style of writing."
*** Thanks, and welcome on board. Stay in touch and all the best, Craig
Now go sell something,
